About the Book
Now a day, students need precise information about the subject for preparing for their examination, therefore, we have tried to incorporate the information on the subject in a simple manner. This book, fulfill the needs of third year sixth semester B.Sc. (Agri.) program as per syllabus prescribed by the Fifth Deans Committee on Higher Agriculture Education in India. This book covers the information regarding different aspects of precision agriculture, geoinformatics, remote sensing, crop simulation models, soil test crop response and nanotechnology. Precision farming is the management of agricultural inputs based on the needs of the small individual sites of the fields with the use of variable rate application instead of conventional constant rate of application. Farmers use precision farming practices to apply nutrients, seed, water and other agricultural inputs to grow more crop in a wide range of soil environment. Geoinformatics is the science and technology of gathering, storing, analyzing, processing, interpreting, modeling and distributing geo-information. It can help farmers to enhance crop production with more efficiency and at low cost. Remote sensing is the art and science of obtaining information from a distance, i.e. obtaining information about objects or phenomena without being in physical contact with them. Nanotechnology is the design, characterization, production and application of structures, devices and system by controlling shape and size at nanometer. It aims to reduce the amount of sprayed chemical products by smart delivery of active ingredients minimize nutrient losses in fertigation, increase yield through water and nutrient management.
